Hills 20 Specialty Coffee

Dog-friendly courtyard vibe was light-filled, warm and inviting on a gloomy winter day. We enjoyed Proud Mary coffees along with seriously tasty, not to mention generous breakfast. One x Hills 20 Big Breakfast and a Chorizo & Chipotle Scramble were both great choices! Staff are welcoming and friendly.

Great coffee is so important and that’s what you will get here. This cafe has been taken over by new owners in April and wow that commitment to great coffee, service and atmosphere really comes through. The vibe is casual with an awesome courtyard, comfortable chairs and decor. Very reasonably priced with a full selection of varied dishes on offer. Burger was so yum and the Nutella brownie really good. It’s open till 4 on the weekend when most in this area are not. Don’t bother going anywhere else, you will be so glad you didn’t.

I'm actually writing this while sitting in the cafe, having just eaten a delicious eggs Benedict. This cafe is also a local one for me but I haven't visited purely out of laziness because I have to wait and cross a road at some traffic lights. Ridiculous I know. But my usual go to "miss Frank" didn't have a table for one so I came here instead. It's a bright, charming place, service is friendly and welcoming and I'm looking forward to trying other things on the menu. You're guaranteed a cheery hello as soon as you walk in. I observed them do this for the entire time I've been sitting here. I'll be back for sure. Hope it's as good the second time around !

Many years ago a local legend in the video hire biz, Mick from Mick's Flicks , sold his Camberwell video biz (excellent timing there, Mick), bought a nearby corner store & converted it into a cafe. There have been several owners since. The last owners extensively renovated. It is now bathed in beautiful natural light with several distinct spaces including two outdoor areas (dog & kid friendly), one of which is semi-enclosed, so you can find a space that suits you. I love that it is not incredibly noisy like a particular popular Through Rd restaurant. The staff are always very pleasant & the food is good & well presented. New owners James, Gavin & Hazel re-opened thé café in April 2019. They have spent a considerable amount of money installing state of the art coffee machines producing an excellent coffee while keeping the price per cup at a sensible level.
