Bonchon Chicken

I just got back home from picking up my food. I had to wait 10 minutes for my food to be done, so I assumed it would be hot. The fries are cold. Like they've been out of the oil for over 20 minutes old. The chicken is coldish and hard. I got plain and spicy. The plain chicken tastes...like chicken. There's no seasoning on the bird or in the batter. The spicy one looks like someone tipped a teaspoon of spicy sauce NEAR it. It's not at all spicy. I feel like I wasted $50. Oh and I got the medium combo was missing wings.

I love this restaurant. I thought I owed more money than I did and the guy was so nice about it. I am going to go once a month because I live in Woodland Hill but my son goes to USC for Chemo once a month. I am from the East coast and my brother told me about Bonchon because he visits the one in New Haven CT. Ao I promised my son we would go after every chemo appointment. It makes me feel like we are at home. The staff is amazing and the food ad well. The way they are handling this epidemic is great. I don't eat out because my sons immune system is low from the chemo but I will take him her to Bonchon I feel its safe for him to eat there. They are very clean.

I ate a fair share of Korean fried chickens while living in Korea. The fried chicken offered by Bonchon is nowhere close to the street corner or fancy fried chicken restaurants that I have the pleasure in tasting. I ordered the garlic sauce drumstick/wing/tender special. I barely can taste the garlic. There is no sweetness to the sauce. The chicken, especially the tender, is beyond salty. Two large cups of water is not enough to quench my thirst and to reduce the saltiness. And unfortunately, chicken in the United states, while big and meaty, lacks the flavor. Two stars goes to the excellent service and the crispyness/texture you would expect from a Korean fried chicken place. 1/2 star more for the flavored fries. I like the fries so much more than the chicken. The fries are very delicious.
