Pep's Restaurant & Bar

I really enjoyed eating here. I'm from out of town and working in Ingleside. Peps was recommended to me by one of the local guys. It is a pretty popular place it seems so I'm glad I got there early. I got some of their seasonal cranberry habenro wings and the Peps fajita plate. The wings were great but coming from Louisiana not as spicy as I would like considering they were in a habenro sauce. They were however cooked to perfection and a decent portion. 👌 The Peps fajita plate was an absolute mound and a steal of a deal price wise for what you get. Ididi the chicken shrimp and steak combo that came with sausage and peppers/onions. Very very good. I'm a big guy but there I absolutely no way I was finishing all the food. Made a great meal for the next day. I also had 2 happy hr margaritas which were pretty good and well presented unlike so others places I've been with happy hrs. I highly recommend this place for the food and service. Mrs Bridget was awesome and very kind and helpful without being intrusive or bothersome. She checked in with me to make sure I was good and went about her business... top knotch. The restaurant itself was very well kept and clean, hands down. I will be going back and recommend anyone try it. Can't go wrong!

Edit: Reagan is amazing! If you get to have her as your server, you're in for a treat! I always enjoy my meals at Pep's! Whether we want a date night or just a quick lunch, Pep's is my go to...hands down! The carnitas hot plate is my favorite meal, along with the street nachos as an appetizer! The chips and salsa stay flowing and are so tasty you may fill up before your meal arrives. Don't worry though, take it home and eat it later! Everything reheats well!

Where to start? For drinks, we chose The Boozy Goblin, a special for the Halloween season, I presume. It was mildly sweet and rather refreshing, quite a good start to the meal. The salsa was fabulous--a somewhat mild green salsa that was delicious but tamer than the tongue-tingling red salsa. I couldn't stop eating the red salsa. For the entree, I highly recommend the Surf and Turf Enchiladas-- tender, flavorful fajita meat enchiladas topped with a fantastic creamy seafood sauce that is pure pleasure. The grilled vegetables were quite good, too, but you don't really come to a place like this for veggies, right? But they are a good way to get your veggies in. Our server, Bridgette, was very attentive without being intrusive. It was a great meal!

Pep's Mexican Steakhouse in Portland, TX, is a hidden treasure enjoyed by both locals and visitors. Nestled conveniently near the highway, it's easy to overlook, so stay vigilant. The cuisine is outstanding, and the team is exceptionally welcoming. I highly suggest trying their fajitas and indulging in the delightful happy hour margaritas!
