I eat (from) here at least once a week, yet, I hadn’t posted about it so far. First, it was Mapo Tofu (I’ll post a picture the next time I eat that here). These days, it’s dan dan noodles. I’m addicted. Such a great balance of salt, spice, sweet. Enter your comment here. Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in:

Over billed $50. December, 2012<br/>Our group of three were amazed when, after a modest meal, we were presented with a $123 bill.<br/><br/>It was obviously wrong. We complained to the acting manager.<br/><br/>The bill was immediately corrected downwards to the right amount of $73.<br/><br/>"We're sorry" they said.<br/><br/>No "come back again sometime, the first dish will be on us".<br/><br/>I spoke next day to the manager. He also said "sorry" and maintained the owners "in China" would not allow him to give a freebie to a pissed off customer.<br/><br/>Methinks I should exercise my first amendment rights and stand outside at peak dining time with a sign stating "Be sure to check you bill"

A must for casual, flavorful Chinese. I spent several hours looking for good reviews, reasonable prices and location close to our midtown east hotel...in the end decided to walk down Lexington till we found somewhere we wanted to eat.. We noticed a fairly busy Mapo Tofu so decided to give it a try. So glad we did...very welcoming staff, prompt food service and of the 4 dishes we ordered, only the roast duck was a bit dry..the rest...chicken pieces with roast chilies, prawns with mixed vegetables, lo mein, spinach and garlic were delicious. Prices very reasonable too.

One weekday, I discovered I had an early afternoon appointment in the city right near DLS 's office. When I mentioned this to him, he suggested I come in a bit early and have lunch with him, and I let him pick the place. Unsurprisingly, he chose Chinese… a place he'd been to previously and enjoyed. Since we ordered three lunch specials (his choice! really, I'm not the reason he's gaining weight!), we had our choice of appetizers. Mediocre spring rolls that he liked and insisted I try a bite before judging (yup, still mediocre, with lackluster filling), his wonton soup that I suppose he liked well enough, and my egg drop soup. Something you may not already know about me: my parents owned a series of Chinese restaurants prior to my birth; when I was growing up, my dad would often make me egg drop soup. He taught me the recipe long before he died - probably as a means to stop me bugging him to make some for me - but for some reason, I've failed to properly recreate it since his death (b

Worst Chinese, Not delicious. It was worst Chinese I have ever had.<br/>Actually, I had been there several times, but the vegetables had unpleasant taste. I think they purchased the poor quality products with low price.<br/>The service was also poor and the owner was very arrogant.<br/><br/>It was worst experience of dining in NY.<br/>I don't like to go there any more.
