The Standard Grill

I booked a reservation for my boyfriend’s birthday, and I could not have asked for a better night. Everything from the food to the service was so excellent, I can not wait to return. Everyone made the night so special. Cocktails to start, I got the Naked and Almost famous — A+ . Cute and deadly. For appetizers, we started off with oysters, prawns, and poached jumbo shrimp. The prawns were a highlight for me. For entrees we got the steak for two, french fries (which I think are the best fries I’ve ever had/exist in New York. Other people in our party got the risotto and scallops and were commenting on how great the food was. A sleeper ‘hit’ was also the side of carrots - they have a little bit of harissa in them, and paired with the steak and fries, I was in heaven. Dessert was a spiced cake and a banana creme pie. Even after the steak and fries, I couldn’t get enough. So delicious and rich, and everyone sang my boyfriend happy birthday. But the most elevated part of our experience was the service. Everyone was so lovely, from beginning to end. The host, Hailey, was so helpful with helping me with my luggage after a long train back to the city, and our server. Chris was also a fabulous host, and made us feel so at home and welcome. The cherry on top of the experience was the DJ playing throughout our meal. A lot of 90s sort of hits that created a sexy and fun atmosphere - reminiscent of the old New York feel that's so hard to find these days. I can’t wait to return, eat more of the food, and bring my girlfriends here!!!

We ordered the Caesar salad, steak tartare, scallops and the burger. Everything was excellent. best Caesar salad I've ever had. We came in on a Sunday night so it was slow. the vibe was chill, the lighting was on the darker side, staff was friendly., we sat in a circular booth, and we were able to have conversations without having to yell across the table. All in all, it was great meal and great experience.

More than a restaurant…. an experience. My party and I enjoyed the drinks, the entrees and oh my goodness, the dessert. I can’t begin to name my favorite dish, but I’ll start with the crab pasta, the halibut, the roasted carrots and the cheese cake. The staff were attentive and very accommodating and the chefs were so gracious. We had a stellar time. I shall return. Thank you guys ❤️

The Standard Grill exudes a cozy ambiance. Loved our banquet table and the food--tangy Cesar salad and a perfectly cooked rack of lamb. We had to get the crispy French fries, of course. The service was right on time. And I couldnt believe how delicious the desserts were--carrot cake and banana pudding like you've never imaged. A dream.

People on the reviews are serious haters. This place is as delightful as it ever was. I can’t imagine what the restaurant owners and staff really endured during covid. We came here for brunch on a Sunday and it was delicious. Lobster roll. White wine. Crisp day. Sunny. Service was attentive. Food was bomb. We came in hungry and left happy. Thank you Standard for a happy Sunday funday. Also, to all the reviewers complaining abt the prices. - why go to a place and complain abt the cost when you know what it costs? You hating and nobody needs that. In post Covid world, we spreading positive vibes, supporting an industry hit the hardest and we bringing back a stronger New York.
