First visit to Heirloom to celebrate an anniversary. The meal was an "Event", everything was delicious. Can't wait to return to try something new. Maybe for my birthday. Pictured is the mushroom soup, pork belly and fried chicken. No salt and pepper needed it's not even on the table.

We decided to treat ourselves to a nice fancy night out, my wife and I, for her birthday. Heirloom DID NOT disappoint! We were greeted with smiles and excellent service. The atmosphere was beautiful and clean! The food was the best I've had. I had the Amish chicken, my wife had the rockfish and it melted in our mouths! I've never had brussel sprouts so FRESH. The flavor were out of this world. Also, everything came out with perfect timing. The only regret is we didn't have room to order the cheese after our entrees! That is a must for us for next time. Thank you so much for a great experience. Once we won't soon forget. -Joey &Abby

Worth a trip from Rehoboth. Definitely. Worth a trip from DC ... Absolutely. Every bite on every plate added something. Every element executed with precision. Plus an amazing setting. Our seasonal journey started with venison tartare with a host of flavorful accompaniments. A very grown up version of fish and chips is the corn fried Southern Grouper with roasted fingerling potatoes, Kennett Square trumpet mushrooms, braised leeks, shaved brussels sprouts, herb mustard, and parsnip puree. Equally good the Rockfish with roasted butternut squash ,collard greens, shallots, blistered turnips, shiitake mushrooms, miso-mushroom broth. Fall never tasted so good. A final treat was the sweet potato gallette with an amazing rosemary ice cream. Can't wait for a next trip to the shore.

11/30 Update: Meghan the owner was gracious enough to remind me in her reply that I had first reached out to them directly before posting any reviews. I've add those screenshots to the review! Thanks Meg! I've been to Heirloom about 5 times and have generally always enjoyed the food. Unfortunately, my latest experience left much to be desired on the hospitality side and with some serious concerns regarding patron safety. I made a reservation for an early dinner on a recent Tuesday and unfortunately had to cancel due to an illness (respiratory symptoms) in our party. I had missed their call to confirm the reservation, but called back multiple times soon after, reaching the voicemail each time. Finally, we left a message canceling our reservation, as we didn't want to risk the health and safety of other diners. At 4:30 (45 min before our reservation) I received a cancellation email from OpenTable; it seemed all was well. However, I later noticed Heirloom had charged my credit card $100. A few issues with this: a) I hadn't provided Heirloom with my credit card. Making a reservation with OpenTable, Heirloom will have access to your credit card information to use as they please. Be wary when making reservations. b) Heirloom is not taking the health of patrons or staff through this pandemic seriously. We canceled out of caution to keep others safe and they would have rather we came. To me, this raises concerns about how they handle staff illness as well. Be careful dining here if you are immunocompromised. I dine out daily and understand the struggle some restaurants are having, particularly with cancelations and no shows. However the restaurant was fairly empty that day (at the time of the cancellation OpenTable had every time available for dining that evening). So they did not lose any business as a result of us canceling. We did reach out after the charge and the restaurant made it clear they would rather lose a repeat customer than refund the $100.

The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. Since the menu changes daily, the selection is limited but a decent selection nonetheless. The appetizer selection was very good as the portions are as well. Our waiter, Angel, was great - his attentiveness was amazing.

Had the soft shell crabs. Terrific food, great service, neat atmosphere. I didn’t say it wasn’t a bit bougie though.

AVOID THIS SPOT AT ALL COSTS! Do not let this restaurant fool you! We had the most AWFUL experience tonight. It felt surreal. The hostess (and self-proclaimed owner) greeted us and the family in front of us a rude, stand-offish manner from the moment we walked in the door for our 5:15 reservation. I believe she was snapped at us because both we and the family in front of us had asked for a high chair or booster seat, which she proudly declared in a demeaning tone that the restaurant was not inclusive of children as she wanted the vibe to be fine-dining and she ‘choose not to spend her money on booster seats or high chairs’. She did not bother trying to accommodate in any way, so the family in front of us scoffed at her response and lack of empathy and walked out. Our family, however, chose to stay and stick it out with a 20-month-old because there was no other restaurant in Lewes we could get into so last minute. (Trust me, we called around and made EVERY effort to find somewhere else to go). While we waited to decide if we were going to keep the reservation we made from Open Table, the same hostess/owner chimed in to our conversation to remind us the clock was ticking and that they’d be kicking us out at 6:45 sharp either way. This was AFTER she had even gone far enough to claim I hadn’t reserved my table for outdoor dining (which I always purposely do done with the toddler in mind). This was again, incredibly rude and laughable at this point. Might I add, on the inside, the restaurant doesn’t remind you ambiance-wise of “fine dining” and there is nothing online or on open-table that would make you feel under that impression. The menu was great and very unique which is originally why we chose it but doesn’t scream fine-dining, either. There was also no notice on Open Table or online stating children were not allowed or that they had no booster seats or high chairs available to their guests. We saw other small children dining there, so I felt very discriminated against. When you go on Open Table, you’ll see similar reviews of this hostess/owner being rude to other customers, so it was interesting to find out we were not the only ones with a poor customer experience. Funny enough, since the hostess/owner and other staff knew how catastrophic our customer experience was, they cancelled my reservation retroactively on the Open Table app to avoid me being able to write a review to expose the truth in a review on the app. (Pictures of the confirmation of our dining there and pictures of after the staff switched the reservation to suddenly reflect as “cancelled” after we left.) Our waitress (K) was sweet and none of this was her fault— it was all on the owner/hostess originally, but later in the meal the waitress was not accommodating to dietary needs or requests. This restaurant needs new management and a new vibe ASAP! Anyone who wants additional info can reach out to me directly and I’m happy to answer questions because I’m sure this review will not be well-received by the staff at Heirloom. Thank you!
