Amazing little venue. We're local and just not got around to trying it till now. Service was perfectly balanced, food was great and selection was sizable enough for size of venue. Good cocktail list and drinks menu also. Atmosphere was really nice, music at right level for conversation and even for a Thursday night was busy. We hadn't booked and from now on will do, because we were lucky to get a table and probably was only the case as we were early evening dining.

The service was first class. Staff very attentive and polite. Food was delicious and very well presented. Pricing was fair, roughly what we expected as we eat out often. First time in this restaurant, but will definitely return. Lovely decor, a quiet Sunday eve so not much atmosphere to talk about but tables well spaced out and comfortable. Immaculately clean table and cutlery. Cannot fault anything!

Delicious and well prepared food.
Plenty of decent options. Staff are very attentive and friendly. We were served by young Jenny and Harrison today - they were very caring with my elderly mum and nothing was too much trouble for them. Love the Sparrow- themed decor and opening French doors onto the street. Relaxing and cheerful atmosphere of a Sunday and good for late afternoon when most cafés are closing up and other restaurants aren’t open yet. Great wee bistro !

First time in here, but it won't be our last visit. The service was first class, and so too was the food. Both of our starters were excellent, and the Fish and chips for my wife' main course, was fresh, with light and crispy batter. The mussels I ordered, were without doubt, the best I've tasted from any restaurant I've ever ordered them from. They were cooked to perfection .
Top marks to the kitchen, for serving up dishes that were so good .

The service was excellent. Our servers were efficient, friendly, welcoming, and chatty.
The food was delicious and well presented,
Menu is not huge but quite varied, including gluten-free and veggie options
Very reasonably priced.
This is the first time I have been here, but it's definitely not the last
I've already recommended it to family.

Visited last night, this was the main course special, Baked cod with mussels and prawns, in a chowder, totally fantastic.

Top notch! I enjoyed the Velvet Sparrow burger with fries, a delicious burger bursting with flavour, crisp fries with a lovely sauce on the side, everything just tasted like it had been made with care.
I will definitely be ordering from this gem of a restaurant again!
EDIT: I ended up ordering the nachos and macaroni at a later date, the nachos were fantastic, best I've had in a while, the macaroni was also quite nice too!

I love the Velvet Sparrow, we're regular visitors. It's beautifully decorated with a lovely welcoming feel. New menu is delicious as are the wines (pinot noir a personal fav) and the staff can't do enough for you. Get along for a visit if you haven't been down already.
