Guru's

My wife and I have been coming to Guru's for years. Their sweet potato fries alone are worth the trip. For date night yesterday, we ordered two hot sandwiches, the Turkey Pesto and the Reuben. Good portion size. Served with homemade potato chips. The turkey and pesto in the sandwich were delicious, but the bread was not just toasted on the top, it was more like dried out and old. And about 1 inch thick on top, so that was a lot of dried-out bread with every bite. I did not finish mine. My wife thought the Reuben was just ok. Good thing we had a plate of sweet potato fries. We had asked them for some fresh fries - in the past, we had been served the smaller, harder, left-over fries at the bottom of the pile. They did not disappoint. Fries were delicious. Christmas music was playing. The vibe was good. We topped it all off with some lemon coconut cake - excellent!

Important good and bad things to know about this place: Pros - VERY clean bathrooms, visually appealing cafe, good service Cons - tables are poorly cleaned, rice is too crunchy On the menu, they recommend Huevos Rancheros and the Cowboy Benny. The Rancheros was not that good and the rice was crunchy. The Benny was excellent and everyone wished they ordered it by the end of the meal. Overall we enjoyed our visit! It’s a nice little dive in Provo.

This is my girlfriend's favorite place. She goes here pretty consistently, but I haven't gone very much recently. We decided to go here for dinner. When you first enter, it gives you a nice vibe. The atmosphere is chill and cozy. The menu has a lot on it, but it isn't too difficult to read. Our cashier and waitresses were kind. I got a full serving of the Marco Polo pasta. It was a bigger meal than I was expecting. I love a classic chicken pasta Alfredo; however, this had a pleasant amount of veggies mixed in. My girlfriend got the combo meal with a half Reuben sandwich and a chicken corn tortilla soup. She enjoyed her meal and had no complaints. They have a little dessert section too that you can pickup after your meal. I'd recommend this place if you're in the area!

I was disappointed the first time I went. The word of mouth said they had amazing breakfast, but when going in, they only had a bunch of pastries. This restaurant has two sides, a bakery, and a restaurant. The omelet was one of the most flavorful, fluffy, cheese perfect things I've ever put in my mouth. The cream cheese stuffed french toast was a 4/5. It was delicious, but the inside really is just chunks of cream cheese. With the almond crust, the multigrain bread, and the AMAZING blueberry syrup, there isn't enough sweet. The sharp cheese adds a richness that is necessary but there needs to be a sweetness to cut the boldness of the other ingredients. The flavors are fighting instead of enhancing each other. You go to the front to pay for the food and the pad asks if you want to leave a tip. I'd give a dollar or two at that point. You won't have a full service waitress but they will refill your drinks and make sure you're alright.

#guruscafe is a long time favorite it’s also LGBT friendly. I’ve enjoyed many things on many visits including the #RoastedBeetSalad which is lovely. It comes with Mixed field greens, red and gold beets, goat cheese, candied walnuts and dried cranberries, and served with a cider vinaigrette. Such a luscious salad. The #vinegrette was amazing, nice acid to counterpoint the earthy #beets and creamy #fetacheese The #PadThai is great. Typically you don’t get a lot of veggies in the Thailand national dish. But Gurus has #edamame #zucchini #squash and #broccoli to liven it up. I got it with chicken. I’ve also enjoyed some lovely #SpicySzechwan noodles with chicken, zucchini, yellow squash, carrots, broccoli and sesame seeds in a traditional tangy Szechwan pepper sauce. It was lovely and spicy. Since #EnlitenBakery is part of Gurus i often get a #dirtyChaiLatte which is a favorite of mine. Other dishes I have enjoyed #CowboyBenny Fresh buttermilk biscuit topped with two fried eggs and bacon, all smothered in sausage gravy. Served with home fries. And #BlueCakes (3 pancakes) Blueberries added to Guru’s made-from-scratch pancakes. Served with blueberry or maple syrup. It’s nice that during good weather you can eat outside, or hang in the inside AC.
