Smokilicious Bar-b-q

Not sure if it was just a bad day or what, but my food was horrible. I’ve ordered before and didn’t have this problem. The Frito pie was SUPER dry. It was literally BBQ meat (no BBQ sauce in sight), chips and a few sprinkles of cheese. It was all a NO for me. I tried to call the restaurant before I made this post and reached someone’s voicemail. I’m very disappointed.

Revisited on Apr 30th. Same 5 star quality Bbq with NEW trailer upgrade! Big Vinny and Brandon are "The Bbq Dynamic Duo of SoCo"! See new pics. Big Vinny BBQ is WOW! Austin has a plethora of Great Bbq establishments. Its hard to name who is the best. However, Big Vinny has separated himself from the herd. He has great food but the separation comes with repor. He takes the time to talk with you. This is my 2nd visit with many more to come. He genuinely cares about those that stop at his Bbq trailer located on South Congress. Both times, we have conversated about things other than bbq or as I refer to it as "burnt meat". Its hard to drive past the aromas of brisket chicken and sausage from other big restaurant pits, I'll admit. But its made easy when Big Vinny listens and cares about those that make their way to him.

I tried BBQ at Big Vinny’s, but it was windy at the outdoor table, and one taste convinced me that I had to take this home and focus on what you see in the photo. This is state-of-the-art Texas brisket and ribs. Tender, juicy, smoky. There’s so much pure meat intensity here—so much umami—that the sauce—a good, more-tang-than-sweet one—is hardly needed. Yes, slaw, which old timers like to slap on the brisket between the white bread slices to add crunch, then dip in the sauce (always on the side). For me, Texas BBQ is about brisket and ribs, and as I type this I’m tasting perfection.

The baby back ribs practically fell off the bones! My husband and I ordered the three meat plate with two sides. We sampled brisket, sausage, and baby back ribs. The meats were tender and flavorful! I could easily have eaten a whole rack of ribs myself. It is definitely worth stopping at Big Vinny's BBQ.
